Dance Classes for Teens

Mountain Contemporary Dance Arts (MCDA) in Louisville, CO offers a wide range of dance classes for teens throughout Boulder County. MCDA offers classes for teens of all levels, including advanced/pre-collegiate level training as well as classes for teens new to dance!

Lilac Program

Middle School Dancers
(Ages 11*-14)

    2-4 classes per week recommended

Violet Program

Teen Dancers
(Ages 13*-18)

Ballet Classes

Our ballet curriculum is based on contemporary technique training with a focus on healthy anatomical development. Alignment, strength, focus and musicality will be taught at all levels.

Jazz

A theatrical style, jazz uses stylized footwork, leaps and turns in rhythmic combinations. More lyrical and percussive styles of movement and pop music will be included in this class.

Contemporary / Modern

A technique based in discovery and individuality, contemporary/modern focuses on development through the movement fundamentals of time, space and energy. Partnering, floor work, improvisation and composition are included in the class.

Hip Hop and Breakin'

A social dance technique that includes dynamic footwork, funk styles (such as locking and popping), b-boying and b-girling (footwork, freezes, power moves, top rock) . Rhythm, community building and individual style are developed in this fun-filled class.

Tap

A style of dance that uses footwork and sound to create percussive relationships with music. A variety of tap styles, including hoofing and “Broadway” styles of tap will be introduced in the tap coursework.

Contemporary Ballet/Pointe/Pre-Pointe

Our contemporary ballet and pointe course is designed for experienced ballet students interested in accelerating their ballet training. Classical ballet technique with be blended with contemporary ballet choreography and stylization. Pre-pointe and pointe work will incorporate somatic principles and detailed skill development to build healthy alignment and strength. MADE Performance Company (ages 8+)

Does your dancer have the passion for excelling further in the art of dance? Dancers will learn choreography in a range of styles and develop performance skills such as: focus, dynamics, theatricality, which will enable them to be more versatile and expressive performers. Dancers will have the opportunity to perform throughout the season in this elite company.

M.A.D.E (Mountain Arts Dance Ensemble)

is MCDA’s resident student dance ensemble. MCDA is dedicated to providing a professional atmosphere for our performance company that puts your dancer’s artistic expression first. Our company members learn about the art of collegiate and professional concert dance, health, friendship, creativity, team work, and life skills that they will carry with them long after the applause subsides.

As a MADE company member, your dancer will have the opportunity to:

Take part in 1 weekly class designed especially for the company. Dancers will train and learn choreography in different styles from MCDA faculty as well as special guest choreographers.

Perform several times throughout the season in community and preprofessional events.

Attend exciting field trips to professional dance performances.

Host special in house MCDA events (including themed dance parties and guest artist classes)

Placement in the MADE companies will be recommended and approved by your instructors and the MADE directors.

Mountain Kids/MCDA closed May 27th-June 4th. All classes resume June 5th.
